New Beginnings

Dear GYTO Family,

We are so thrilled to finally be able to bring you GYTO: The Blog. Over the years we’ve heard from so many of you that you wish you could replicate the content, community, and inspiration of GYTO events year-round.

While there’s nothing quite like the magic that happens when we all get together, we hope that this blog will be in some small way a “home away from home” and a place you can turn to for support and inspiration.

We look forward to meeting some of you as guest bloggers or teacher features somewhere along the line. After all, you are what makes our GYTO community so great!

With gratitude,
Hope + Wade King

Dear Reader,

Welcome to what I hope will be a space that you find comfort in, that you draw inspiration from, are sometimes challenged by, and always supported in. I am so honored to have the opportunity to contribute to and manage a space such as this, and am grateful to Hope and Wade for their trust and faith as we launch this new endeavor.

When I was a pre-service teacher, teacher blogs were just starting to take off. There was an endless stream of content, and while I sometimes felt a bit overwhelmed by all that was out there, more than anything I felt connected. Teaching blogs gave me the opportunity to step into someone else’s classroom and life as an educator without leaving my couch and was, in many ways, some of the best professional development I had at such a formative time in my life as an educator.

Our goal with GYTO: The Blog is to bring you the best parts of the experience that I had while also improving upon it. We’ll bring you tried-and-true but also innovative strategies and instructional practices to uplift all students. We’ll highlight the best and brightest of the GYTO community. But above all, we’ll be a source of support for you as you navigate the many and ever-changing challenges that face our profession.

It is important to me that you aren’t just a passive reader in this space. My hope is that we will truly grow in community with one another - through comment sections, dialogue on social media, post requests, teacher features, and more. As Hope and Wade said, you are what makes our GYTO community so great… and I cannot wait to share in this space with you.

My “door” is always open; you can reach me on social media (@sarahplumitallo on FB, IG, and Twitter) or by emailing me at sarah@hopeandwadeking.com.

Sincerely,
Sarah Plumitallo
